Any suggestions or tips on how to make this work for me? Thanks again for all the great work you do with this site I have 3 Devices and the Shield and the software. The fix is to give the app file access permission. This can be done under the device settings or by uninstalling and then reinstalling the app and making sure to ALLOW permissions when asked. Thanks for the response. I have tried the fix you mentioned to no avail. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and still get the restricted access on the browser tab of downloader.
I have downloaded the add on 2 different ways and still not working. I have the same issue as Brian and nothing has worked to resolve this problem. Have you possibly come up with a correction?
I have the app on a second shield tv and it works without issue as well on my fire tv boxes too. Disregard my reply as I got it working. Instead of having downloader get the browser plug in, I downloaded on my laptop, put on a thumb drive, used File Commander and installed from there.
Ok I am following the steps to load this on my Minix android box but the app is not showing up in the google play store. Where can I download the app from? Hello all. It was very cheap android box though. I wpukd be very grateful for solution. Keeps getting connection error. Even tried the url in the downloader and still error no connection. Both essentially do the same thing. The major change is that in current versions of Android and Android TV, you can enable or disable this setting for each individual app, which is awesome.
For example, that means that if you want to enable it for Aptoide TV, but disable it for File Commander, you can do that. There are only two settings to change in this sub-menu: Unknown Sources and Verify Apps. Click on Unknown Sources to continue. Simply flip the toggle until it changes to blue to enable it, or flip it to gray to disable it. Current versions of Android will let you do this from within the app.
As far as permissions goes, this is about as simple as you can get. It needs this permission so it can install files. Once you click out of that box, the main Home screen is a simple search box that lets you enter a URL or search term. Until recently, you could only enter a URL into this field. However, in July , it was integrated with Google Search so you can actually enter in a keyword to search for. So, when you typed in the URL on the home page, you needed the complete location of the file itself.
Unfortunately, Google took some issues with having an integrated browser on Android TV and this was the best workaround for that. It gives you instructions on how to download the browser plugin by going to browser. If we were installing anything that required special permissions, it would also allow us to approve or deny those here.
Click Done to return to the app. Yes…I know I literally just saw a message that told me the app was installed, but this still threw me off when I saw it the first time.
