Seems to work well with just just straight Alsa too. Also worked good on a Mac mini in both Linux and macOS. Because of Apple's T2 chip, things like audio are not easily accessible to the Linux kernel, so this unit worked great for macOS and Linux. Was a great solution until it failed.
This device was the solution I needed so they could also share the same set of speakers. Pros: My problem was simple, somehow I blew out the really great sound system that came with my Asus motherboard. Personally, I blame Windows Pro, but can not prove it. I have every intention of replacing the motherboard later this year, but that also means replacing the DDR4 memory sticks and the CPU, and more. Use headphones or add an amplifier and speakers. I am very pleased.
